Spinal Flow Technique

What is Spinal Flow Technique?

How does Spinal Flow Work?

Can Spinal Flow Help Me?

Spinal Flow Technique is a gentle, holistic approach that works with the nervous system to help the body release stress, tension, and stored emotional and physical stress patterns. Rather than forcing change, Spinal Flow uses specific access points along the spine to help the nervous system recognize areas of stress and shift out of protective patterns. As the body begins to feel safe, it can reconnect with its natural ability to heal, adapt, and function more effectively. Our nervous system controls every function in the body—from movement and digestion to sleep, energy, emotions, and overall wellbeing. When stress accumulates over time, it can interfere with the communication between the brain and body. This may contribute to pain, tension, fatigue, emotional overwhelm, and other health challenges. Spinal Flow Technique helps restore that communication by supporting the body's natural flow and healing processes. Many people experience improvements in physical discomfort, stress levels, emotional wellbeing, posture, energy, and overall quality of life. Each session is gentle, relaxing, and tailored to your unique needs. There is no cracking, twisting, or forceful manipulation. Instead, the focus is on creating safety within the nervous system so the body can do what it was designed to do—heal. At Sacred Balance, we believe healing happens when the body feels safe enough to let go of what it no longer needs to hold onto. Through Spinal Flow Technique, we help you reconnect with the healing intelligence within, so you can experience greater ease, resilience, and balance in your life.

Your nervous system is the master communication system of your body. It constantly sends messages between your brain and every organ, muscle, gland, and cell. Throughout life, we experience physical, chemical, and emotional stress. Sometimes these stresses are greater than our body's ability to process them, causing the nervous system to become overwhelmed and protective. When this happens, tension and stress can become stored within the body, affecting how the brain and body communicate. Spinal Flow Technique helps identify areas where stress may be interfering with that communication. Using gentle contacts at specific points along the spine, we help the nervous system become aware of these patterns and encourage the body to release them naturally. As the nervous system begins to feel safe, many people notice their body starts responding differently. Muscles may relax, breathing may deepen, posture may improve, and the body may move out of "fight, flight, or freeze" responses and into a more balanced state. The goal is not to treat symptoms directly. The goal is to improve communication between the brain and body so the body can function and heal more effectively. Why Safety Matters Many people spend years living with stress, pain, and tension without realizing how much their nervous system is working to protect them. True healing happens when the body feels safe. When the nervous system perceives safety, it can shift resources away from survival responses and toward repair, recovery, digestion, immune function, rest, and healing. That's why Spinal Flow Technique focuses on gentle, precise contacts rather than forceful manipulation. We are not forcing the body to change—we are helping it remember how.

Many people come to Spinal Flow because they feel like something is "off" in their body or life. They may be experiencing physical discomfort, emotional stress, fatigue, or simply a sense that they are not functioning at their best. Because Spinal Flow focuses on the nervous system—the body's master communication system—it may support people who are experiencing the effects of accumulated stress and tension. You May Benefit from Spinal Flow If You: Feel stressed, overwhelmed, or constantly "on edge" Experience neck, shoulder, or back tension Struggle with headaches or migraines Have difficulty relaxing or sleeping well Feel fatigued, even after resting Notice poor posture or stiffness Experience digestive challenges related to stress Feel emotionally drained, disconnected, or stuck Want to support your overall health and wellbeing Are looking for a gentle, non-force approach to wellness Stress Shows Up in Many Ways Stress doesn't only affect our thoughts. It can influence how we move, breathe, sleep, digest food, recover, and experience life. Sometimes the signs are obvious. Sometimes they are subtle. You may notice: Tight shoulders Shallow breathing Clenched jaws Digestive discomfort Fatigue Difficulty focusing Increased tension throughout the body These can all be signs that the nervous system is working hard to adapt to life's challenges. Every Person Is Different No two people experience Spinal Flow in exactly the same way. Some people notice changes quickly, while others experience gradual shifts over time. Our focus is not on chasing symptoms. Our focus is on helping the nervous system function more effectively so the body can do what it was designed to do—adapt, heal, and thrive. Let's Find Out Together If you're wondering whether Spinal Flow is right for you, the best place to start is with an assessment and conversation about your goals, health history, and what you hope to achieve. Together, we'll explore whether Spinal Flow may be a good fit for your wellness journey. You don't have to do it all alone. Sometimes the first step is simply giving your body the opportunity to be heard.

About

Hi, I'm Laura Gow, founder of Sacred Balance and a Certified Spinal Flow Practitioner. I am first and foremost a wife, a mother to four wonderful boys, and a follower of God. My family is my greatest blessing and my highest priority. As a lifelong lover of the outdoors and a resident of the Sandpoint area for over 40 years, I've always appreciated the healing and peace that can be found in nature and in slowing down enough to listen to what our bodies are telling us. My journey into Spinal Flow began not as a practitioner, but as someone searching for answers. For years, I struggled with a variety of health challenges, including degenerative changes in multiple areas of my spine, scoliosis, carpal tunnel syndrome, chronic cough, rashes, depression, and ongoing pain and discomfort. My condition had progressed to the point where I was receiving injections, and I was being advised to undergo significant medical procedures, including the implantation of a device with wires placed near my neck to help me hold my head upright. While I am grateful for the role that medical care can play when needed, I knew I wanted to explore every option available to me before moving forward. That search led me to Spinal Flow. As my nervous system began to release layers of stored stress and tension, I experienced profound changes in my health and quality of life. Over time, many of the symptoms that had once dominated my daily life improved dramatically. Most importantly, I no longer needed the surgeries that had been recommended to me. More than two years later, that remains true. My experience with Spinal Flow changed the course of my life. It not only gave me hope when I felt I was running out of options, but it also helped me understand the incredible wisdom and healing potential that exists within the human body. That experience is what inspired me to become a Spinal Flow Practitioner and create Sacred Balance. Today, my passion is helping others discover what I discovered: that the body is intelligent, resilient, and constantly working toward healing when given the opportunity and support to do so. My role is not to force change, but to create a safe space where the nervous system can reconnect and the body can begin to release what it is ready to release in its own time. Whether you are navigating pain, stress, fatigue, emotional challenges, or simply looking to improve your overall well-being, my goal is to help you feel seen, supported, and empowered on your healing journey. At Sacred Balance, I want every person who walks through my doors to know they are welcome, valued, and capable of healing.

Individual results vary, and Spinal Flow is not intended to diagnose, treat, or cure medical conditions. My story reflects my personal experience and journey.

Dear Reader,

As a long-term patient of Chiropractic care, I can confidently say the Spinal Flow Technique, implemented by Laura Gow, has been a positive and life changing experience. On a personal level, Laura is both kind and compassionate, effectively communicating her knowledge of SFT in both practical terms as well as explaining the implications thereof. Her demeanor is calming, and one feels instantly "at home" in her presence. Truly dialing into the mind-body complex as a whole, the restorative and regenerative processes are activated by the SFT in ways that I have yet to experience with any other modality. Since beginning treatment, I have noticed better balance, improved dream recall, and a significant reduction in neck and shoulder pain. 5 out of 5 stars.

I've done several Spinal Flow sessions, and it's already helped me so much. I initially  went in for chronic back pain, but I realized that so many other muscles inmy body were tight and causing pain. It was amazing when i felt two areas of my body spasm and then relax durning the first session. I could tell something had happened, even though I hadn't been aware those areas were causing some of my pain. Im usually a little sore after each session, almost as if I had recieved a deep tissue massage, but then I notice relief, improvement in my pain level, and also better sleep! But the most amazing thing is how the Spinal Flow Technique has greatly improved another chronic health issue--planter fasciitis. I've delt with it off and on for almost 20 years, but for the past 9 months it had been really flaring up. I've seen podiatrists, had expensive custom orthotics made, done stretching exercises, and more to find relief. After my third Spinal Flow session I realized I was no longer limping! It hasn't completely healed (yet) but I have so much more mobility and less pain now. I believe everything in our bodies are connected, and all of my issues maybe compounding each other, or maybe caused by unseen problems with how my body has been functioning. I can really see that my body is trying to heal from the inside out, and I'm excited to continue the sessions to allow my body to keep healing! I would recommend Spinal Flow Technique to anyone. And Laura is the best! She has found results herself and is so anxious to help others have a better quality of life.
